Consecutive interpreting
This is one of the most requested interpreting methods.
It is used to interpret partial sections or individual sentences of a speech.
In interpreting, the interpreter works close to the speaker or in front of the audience to whom he or she is interpreting.
Especially suitable for social events, business meetings, appointments, presentations, etc.
Accompanying interpreting
It is mainly used for business trips and meetings. It lies somewhere between classical interpreting and organizational work.
In these cases, the interpreter sometimes acts as a guide, but in no way replaces him/her.
Accompanying the client to meetings and helping them to find their way around other linguistic and cultural environments (offices, restaurants, exhibitions, booking tickets and flights abroad, etc.).
Interpreting with travel
- interpreting abroad
- interpreting outside the interpreter’s place of residence
- e.g. interpreting multi-day conferences, training abroad, foreign business trips, etc.
The client provides the interpreter with transport or its payment, accommodation and meals.
The client shall provide timely information regarding the location, transport and type of event.
Experience
In my interpreting experience I have had the opportunity to interpret at many different events and can offer my services in the following areas:
- interpreting at international sporting events
- interpreting business meetings with foreign partners
- interpreting conference calls
- interpreting for formal social and business events
- interpreting employee training – operation, installation and maintenance of machines on the production floor
Requirements
Before ordering an interpreter, you need to:
Prepare adequate and appropriate documentation, which should be provided in good time to allow the interpreter sufficient time to prepare. This includes, for example, a list of technical terms in the field, presentations, articles, manuals, guides, etc., which can help the interpreter to become familiar with the subject matter of the interpreting assignment.
Communicate to the interpreter the conditions of the interpreting. This is primarily a communication of the expected duration of the interpreting session. In the case of a multi-day interpreting trip, this also includes arranging accommodation and meals, if necessary, and arranging transport for the interpreter to the venue. It is also important to inform the interpreter about the type of event, the dress code, etc.
